Fonterra is a leading multinational dairy company, owned by 11,600 NZ dairy farmers. Fonterra is the world’s largest exporter of dairy products, exporting 95 percent of its production. Fonterra's global supply chain encompasses shareholders’ farms in NZ through to customers and consumers in 140 countries. Collecting over 13 billion litres of milk a year, Fonterra manufactures and markets over 2 million tonnes of dairy products annually, making them the world leader in large-scale milk procurement, processing and management.
Fonterra’s ingredients business is the largest dairy ingredients operation in the world, manufacturing and marketing more than 1,000 ingredient products to the international food industry under the NZMP brand. Fonterra Brands, Fonterra's consumer business, has some of the world’s best-known dairy brands, including Anchor, Tip Top, Peters & Brownes, Anlene, Anmum, Chesdale, Fernleaf and Mainland. Fonterra carries out a substantial amount of research and development, principally at its Palmerston North Research Centre, which has a staff of more than 300, but also at a range of centres around the world including a new centre at Melbourne, Australia. It has several offices in Europe including Brussels and Hamburg (main European office).
