CCFRA is the largest membership based food and drink research centre in the world. It undertakes R&D for the many industries associated with agriculture, food and drink manufacture, distribution, retailing and food service: in essence those industries which together make up the agri-food chain.

It provides an essential interface between strategic research and industrial application and as well as conducting its own extensive research programme, CCFRA has extensive links with universities and research institutes throughout the EU.

The structure of CCFRA, with its industrial membership of over 1600 companies and 77 research establishments across more than 60 countries, makes it an ideal EU partner for developing food research collaborations with NZ. Facilities include three fully equipped food processing halls, product and process development facilities, a substantial, leading-edge sensory analysis suite, and extensive research and analytical laboratories covering microbiology, hygiene, chemistry, biochemistry and microscopy.

Purpose built training centres and dedicated information services are central to CCFRA’s pivotal role in technology transfer. A substantial and growing training programme forms the basis of worldwide in-house training for industry tailored to specific company requirements.

CCFRA also acts as the Project and European Technical Co-ordinator.
