The University of Auckland was founded in 1883. Today, its strength is its research intensity and the way its research expertise guides and informs its teaching. This research strength is demonstrated by scoring the top rank of all NZ Universities, as well as excelling in many different individual categories in the inaugural national research rating exercise carried out by the Government of New Zealand. the Performance Based Research Fund (similar to the British RAE rating exercise). Research departments and centres within The University of Auckland and its commercial arm, UniServices, have a proven track record of managing the design, implementation, operation and completion of major studies for government agencies and, private and public organisations. The University of Auckuckland’s strengths in medical sciences, epidiemiology and personalised nutrition research will make it a key contributor to the Personalised foods theme of the collaborative activities.
