AgResearch
AgResearch is a government owned research institute that works with the dairy, meat and wool industries. AgResearch’s contribution to FOOD-FRENZ, alongside the other New Zealand participants, will be in its significant knowledge and technology base supporting the added-value foods and pastoral farming industries. AgResearch has considerable experience in working with industry through research consortia and other formal partnerships, which has led to the introduction of an important array of biotechnologies and innovations, helping transform NZ’s productivity and profitability to its present world-leading status. With over 1000 staff involved in applied research, technology development and commercialisation, AgResearch delivers to three innovation areas: Food and Animal Health/Welfare, Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Systems, and the production of Elite Plants and Animals. Complementary capabilities and competencies that AgResearch will contribute include state-of-the-art proteomics and bioinformatics, functional genomics, and metabolomics platforms applied across the on-farm production, animal health & welfare, food safety and human nutrition value chain. In addition, AgResearch has significant experience in all aspects of technology transfer and knowledge uptake in the New Zealand red meat and dairy industries.
