PROJECT NEWS WORKSHOP UPDATE STUDY VISITS CONFERENCE LINKS

Project Activities

The objectives of FOOD-FRENZ will be achieved through the following activities during the two years of the project:

  • Two joint EU-NZ workshops.
The first workshop identified best practice for achieving effective collaborations among industry, universities and research institutions.

The second workshop focused on using foresight of consumer needs to shape food research approaches and directions.

The aim of these workshops was to identify key determinants that feature in successful scientific development and to learn from mistakes where new technologies have failed, as a result of not taking into account consumer concerns and interests.

  • Twenty fellowships
These have be awarded to 20 EU researchers, who will undertake study visits to NZ during the early part of 2008 and will meet relevant researchers and industries.

  • A joint EU-NZ conference
A free-to-attend joint EU-NZ conference will be held in September 2008 in Budapest, Hungary, where findings and recommendations from the workshops and study visits will be shared.

The relationships developed during all these activities will lead to partnerships and collaborative research programmes that bring together the best international expertise available that will endure well past the project finish date.

The work packages follow a chronological order culminating in the conference where findings and recommendations from the workshops and study visits will be shared. The issues covered reflect the project’s commitment to the "fork to farm" view of the food chain where the consumer’s demands drive innovation and a cross-sectoral approach are paramount.
